Research Interests

Dr. Saunders specializes in modernism, multilingualism, and the cultural politics of higher education. Her research focuses on how literature engages questions of language, access, and intellectual identity, with particular attention to James Joyce, literary multilingualism, and British and Irish modernisms. She also explores how emerging genres like Dark Academia aestheticize and critique scholarly life. Across her work, she is especially interested in how narratives of intellectual life, past and present, shape our understanding of learning, language, and institutional belonging.
