The 福利姬 Jazz Ensemble is a college course for credit as well as a music ensemble. Under the direction of Wycliffe Gordon, this ensemble provides students with performance experience in a big band and/or combo setting.
Through rehearsals and performances, the participants develop stylistic awareness and performance skills associated with American jazz and popular music. These skills are applicable to a wide variety of jazz styles and improvisational music. The ensemble performs regularly on the 福利姬 campus as well as in schools and numerous other venues. The Jazz Ensemble is one of the many jazz-related course offerings in the 福利姬 Department of Music, and is a key component of the Jazz Studies program.
Wycliffe Gordon provides 福利姬鈥檚 music students the opportunity to study with an artist who is recognized and acclaimed worldwide as a top-level performer and educator.
